Reflections of Christ

A while ago when I was at the Temple, I walked through an exhibit called Reflections of Christ. It's really beautiful and so peaceful. My friend, Joyce, just sent me a website about it and it's got a video showing the photographs. I highly recommend checking it out!

Kaiana is on the move all the time, now. She's been rolling over for a while, but she's getting aiming down really well. Her favorite place to play is underneath the computer chair, especially when Daniel is sitting in it. She will tug on his pant leg until he looks at her, then smile at him. It's really sweet.

I have a new calling. I'm the Primary secretary now. Even though our old secretary moved away a few weeks ago, she was really organized and left good instructions, so I think I'll be able to do an all right job. :-)

Today is Daniel's last day of freedom. School starts tomorrow. He had a whole week and a half between summer and fall session. We're hoping he can take next summer off and just work to get more of a break!

A real cloaking device?

Daniel just sent me an article from CNN about scientists getting closer to creating a cloaking device. I guess Star Trek isn't as unbelievable as we all thought! :-)

A tooth!

Kaiana was chewing on my finger this morning, and I noticed that she has the tip of a tooth poking through! It's on the bottom and you can just barely see it. I couldn't get a picture of the tooth very easily, so I just took a picture of her. :-)

Politics & Disney Princesses

I just got my early ballot in the mail for the primary elections, so I've been checking out everyone's websites, trying to decide who to vote for (I get to actually vote in 2 races, none of the other races have more candidates than slots available.) While reading up on the candidates for Corporation Comissioner, I've come to the conclusion that it must not matter who I vote for, because apparently they will all do exactly the same things. I figure that has to be true, because every website says the exact same thing. "I will lower water usage... I will protect ratepayers... yada, yada, yada." I think it would really help candidates if they would try and make themselves stand out a little, but apparently that's not what the people want. :-)

I prefer real elections to primaries, because there you get to vote in issues. Propositions are so cut and dried. You read it and say, "Oh, that makes sense! I want that to happen!" or "Oh, that's a bad idea... Who ever thought that was intelligent?" But with people, it's so much harder! First, you have to glean from minuscule amounts of information what they actually plan to do, but you can't trust that they will really do what they say they will anyway. Also, the more campaigning I see, the less I tend to like the candidates. :-)

To take a break from politics, I decided to look for a personality quiz online (I think they're fun. :-D) I found a Disney Princess personality quiz, and here are my results:

Soccer

Caleb loves sports of any kind... At least in theory. Generally he gets a little bored playing them for more than a few minutes. :-) We were trying to play soccer with him, but he didn't understand that you were supposed to kick the ball, he wanted to play catch with it. So we went on youtube to find videos of people playing soccer. I found this one and thought it was pretty amusing. :-)

We went to see "Iron Man" on Tuesday. It was nice to have a date and get out of the house, plus the cheap theater has Dollar Tuesdays, so it was really inexpensive. That's always nice. :-) We were kind of disappointed in "Iron Man", though. There were some really funny parts, but it had a rather tacky scene at the beginning that kind of ruined it for us. It was also more intense than I really like my movies to be.

Imaginary Friends and Reid Park

Caleb has two imaginary friends now. They are named Christopher and Sammy. Christopher is someone imaginary that he plays with, but he often pretends to be Sammy. Sometimes he'll ask questions, and when I answer them he says, "No, Mommy! I was talking to Christopher!" So far his imaginary friends don't clean up the house like mine used to. We'll have to see if they pick up that trait. :-)

We finally got out of the house to go play with friends on Saturday. We were going to go Friday night, but a storm hit right before we left. My friend Joyce and her kids Michael, Gabriel and Joseph were already on their way to Reid Park, so we were going to drive over there and invite them to hang out at our place. Our plans changed, though, because our parking lot was completely flooded. There were actually children swimming in some of the lower sections of the parking lot. The storm was really bad; an 8 year old boy was hit by lightning at Reid Park and was killed. It made us really grateful that we decided to stay home, but we feel so sorry for his family.

On Saturday night, we tried again and there was no storm to slow us down. I didn't bring the camera, so no pictures, but it was a lot of fun. I think we need to hit up Reid Park more often, because it has more exciting playground equipment than most parks, and more strategically located benches for me!
